About the Role

Are you looking to take on a pivotal role within an organisation during their next phase of growth? Due to our client’s ongoing success, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Bridging Underwriter to join a dynamic team.

This is a fantastic opportunity as a senior member of the underwriting team to manage complex bridging and development finance applications. You will use your expertise to make sound lending decisions, ensuring all loans are processed in accordance with lending policy. You will collaborate closely with other team members, approving viable loans and mitigating risk for the business.
  
Key Responsibilities:
  • Effectively managing a pipeline of bridging cases, prioritising tasks to ensure timely processing
  • Underwriting bridging loan applications within company lending criteria, making quality lending decisions with a focus on risk mitigation
  • Completing due diligence, maintaining vigilance throughout the underwriting process and escalating complex cases when needed
  • Liaising with a range of third parties and stakeholders across a variety of teams
  • Working within best practice and to regulatory requirements, including Consumer Duty principles
  • Monitoring loan progress post-completion, ensuring offer conditions are met
  • Maintaining and updating accurate records
  • Training and mentoring junior members of the underwriting team
  • Attending industry events when required
  • Participating in and leading training sessions with external partners
  • Proactively suggesting and implementing process improvements
Skills Required:
  • Extensive experience in underwriting within bridging finance
  • Strong understanding of compliance aspects, including the regulatory environment and Consumer Duty principles
  • Ability to adopt a commercial approach to underwriting, along with meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; strong team player
  • Exceptional organisational and prioritisation abilities
  • Proactive and self-motivated
